In 1999 Blown Fibre (Pty) Ltd was formed in as a division of its mother company Infotech (Pty) Ltd. Acting in the IT sector, as an optical fibre specialist, Blown Fibre has the sole rights to import, manufacture under license and distribute the air blown fibre technology called FibreFlow™ to the Southern Africa region. Originally developed and patented by British Telecom, blown fibre is a uniquely different way of planning and installing optical fibre networks. This system has provided its value in many countries throughout the world. In 2004 Blown Fibre formed a 50% partnership with BE (Black Empowerment) Group Structacom (Pty) Ltd, Blown Fibre is taking advantage of the growing need for bandwidth in Southern Africa, especially in networks where multiple customers and multiple different services need to be provided and effectively managed. In 2007 Blown Fibre become a privately owned company, with 63.75% black ownership. We focus on the telecoms industry, introducing world renowned products, and enabling today's telecoms service providers the latest technology to future proof South Africa's infrastructure, and to provide for the growing demand of tomorrow.
